Lightnin’ Hopkins, a man who came from Texas and only rarely strayed from that state, is famous for being the most oft-recorded singer-guitarist of the country-blues genre. Fortunately, a six-decade career in which he probably made more recordings than any other blues artist meant his music crossed not only state but national borders. Our compilation here runs from Hopkins’ first regional hits through to songs from 1954 like ‘Shine On Moon’ and the opening ‘Nothin’ But The Blues’. Among the best-known selections are ‘Lightnin’ Special’, ‘Tim Moore’s Farm’, ‘T Model Blues’ and ‘Coffee Blues’.
